This article is about the process of its initial creation. It includes some factual and/or statistical information which is sourced and cited accordingly. If you would like to contribute to the discussion, please do so on the talk page. Used in the manufacture of automobiles, pneumatic systems are integral for a successful automotive product. This blog post provides a comprehensive overview of pneumatic systems-- their application, design process, and more-- as well as a brief history of their invention by George Westinghouse in 1869. It also discusses the process of pneumatic systems manufacturing, including a detailed section of its design. In 1869, George Westinghouse created the first functioning pneumatic system, enabling him to move more than 700 pounds with a pressurized differential of only one pound of air. This new technology allowed Westinghouse to create the world's first commercial scale air brake for railways. His vision for this new technology was vast - he imagined using it to move elevators, airplanes, and even torpedoes - but his first implementation was on railways. Railways were a new form of transportation at the time and had a crucial need for a fail-safe method for trains to stop quickly in cases of emergency or malfunction. Until then, trains had simply been pulled to a stop by hand. With this new invention, Westinghouse was able to create a new line of transportation for human transportation he had never imagined existed. Westinghouse's invention consisted of two components: the pneumatic brake and the pneumatic locomotive. The first component is what we commonly know today as the pneumatic brake. This component consists of pistons that are used to push air into an insulated block on each car's wheels via a series of tubing that is routed through the car's floor. This allows the train to apply the brake and stop quickly. The second component is what we commonly know today as the pneumatic locomotive. Utilizing this new technology, all of the cars on a train could be stopped by a single reason, not by hand as before. This new technology allowed trains to save fuel and time because there was no need for the many people required to apply the brake previously. Westinghouse's invention continued to evolve and help save millions of lives across the United States and millions more around the world each year since its inception in 1869. The benefits of pneumatic systems continue to be used by auto manufacturers and transportation companies around the world. The vast number of businesses that make use of these systems is an indication as to how beneficial and useful they are as a result of Westinghouse's vision for the new technology. This article is written based on pneumatic systems as it is known today, which has been around for close to a century. This is not meant to be a comprehensive history for pneumatic systems in its entirety, but rather an overview and insight into this relatively new technology and its evolution over the years. cfa1e77820
